Slash/Back is a particularly good movie. Because it was filmed in Pangnirtung near the Arctic Circle. And most of the artists are Inuit. The conspiracy of foreign invasion in this is not very unique. But setting and execution are nothing like that. that I've ever seen. Some of the scenes are so beautiful and there are those where the background doesn't even look real because the arctic looks so amazing.
Inuksuk's long-awaited, Goonese-inspired romp is the latest indigenous film to battle colonialism through genre tropes. It is about aliens who snatched bodies in Pangnirtung, a village in Nunavut. A young band of Inuit girls fighting to defend their land using hunting skills passed down from generations.
Where the rawness of first-time actors and directors is visible in the film. Especially since they are going to do something incredibly ambitious with big tentacled creatures and zombie-like polar bears. But the captivating cast and depiction of navigating daily life in the harsh but surprisingly beautiful climate make the whole thing worthwhile.
Not only are Cast Inuit, but they are probably only around 12 years old. Inexperienced actors do a great job. The movie will work with the younger audience as the gore and horror, Adventure are light yet entertaining.
