Jobhop Jobhop's blog : 5 Ways To Attract Candidates By Being Transparent
When a company is transparent, it gives the candidate a chance to see everything before making a choice of whether to have an interview or work there. Real transparency makes the whole recruitment experience easier for the candidate. It gives the candidate an insight into the daily activities, the type of training they’ll get, what the salary is, what benefits are on offer and more. Currently, candidates are being kept in the dark about too many things; it’s wasting their time, and they’re not happy! Just today here at Jobhop we’ve heard about a great candidate who wasn’t told about the salary until they got to the interview, of course, it was much lower than what the candidate expected, and the whole experience left the candidate annoyed. If the candidate had known before the interview, they wouldn’t have wasted their precious time, and the employer needn’t have wasted their own time either. We’ve also been chatting to a candidate who’s been kept waiting for weeks now for some interview feedback; it seems she’s been ghosted and she isn’t happy. Employers should be upfront about the post-interview process and explain what happens afterwards and when feedback is expected. They should make a promise to contact on such a date and keep that promise!
There are many ways a company could attract candidates by being transparent
Here are 5 ways to attract candidates by being transparent
Video
Video could be used to demonstrate the interview. An ideal video would include who's conducting the interview, the interview room, typical questions asked and the time it takes to interview, as well as what to expect afterwards. Some candidates are nervous when it comes to interviews and watching a video prior is a way to make them feel at ease.
Live stream
Use Periscope or Facebook Live to take the potential candidate on a tour of the company. The candidate can ask questions while they're being shown around and they can be answered in real time.
Blog
Write about the daily activities that go on at the organisation, they could be charity events, social days, award evenings or just about the doughnuts that get delivered on Friday’s! Allow employees to contribute to the blog and share their job journey's with potential candidates.
Use the blog to map out a typical recruitment experience and signpost candidates to it, so they know what to expect.
A picture says a thousand words, it's true, attract great candidates with great pictures. Pictures get the imagination working, and you want good candidates to imagine that they're working at your company. As well as pictures you can add videos to Instagram and now Instagram stories.
Snapchat
What's on the agenda today? Snapchat it into a story. Each day your potential candidate could be following what's happening, the morning meeting, the race to the window desk, the Tassimo coffee machine and even the new intern starting. All of this emotionally connects the potential candidate to the company, before you know it they're contacting you because they want to work there. Check WeAreCisco for Snapchat Brilliance.
