Rules of Merging
Item types must match (e.g., both are one-handed swords).
Only non-corrupted, non-unique weapons and Path of Exile currency shields can be merged.
The item level of the new weapon is taken from one of the two bases.
The resulting Crucible Tree includes some nodes from both items, rarely all, and often with a new pathing layout.
One of the base items is destroyed in the process.

Combining trees wasn’t random gambling—it was a deliberate process for advanced crafting. Here’s how skilled players used the system:
1. Crafting “Perfect Trees”
Find a weapon with one or two desired nodes.
Merge it with another weapon that has the remaining nodes.
Repeat merges until one weapon tree has all the desired nodes (or POE currency for sale, most of them) in a usable layout.
