Jobhop Jobhop's blog : Did You Walk to Work on Walk to Work Day?
On Friday it was Walk to work day and on Thursday I said to Kyria that she had to walk to work, even though I had no intention of doing so myself! Because Kyria had written a blog post about the benefits of walking to work, I thought the least she could do was actually walk to work herself. I didn’t think that she would actually do it, but she did and I felt awful because I was only joking with her. The good news was that she said she really enjoyed it, even though it took her nearly an hour to get to work ( she still got in before me! ) she said it cleared her head and she was able to appreciate how lovely Norwich was by foot. Kyria also mentioned that she did the whole walk without being plugged into music, by doing that she didn’t feel like she was on auto-pilot and was able to appreciate the sounds of birds and people chatting, as well as the views. This got me thinking, how many other people walked to work on Friday? We thought we’d do our own random test by asking a few people in Norwich, no way an accurate picture but we reckon our results say a lot.
We asked the question “Did you know that today is Walk to Work Day?” the answer we got back in return was “No, I didn’t”
We then followed it up with the question “Did you walk to work today?”and here are the results.
As you can see we had a 50/50 split in the Jobhop office!
