Jobhop Jobhop's blog : 10 Top Career Websites Selected By Jobhop
When you are competing to attract top talent, it’s important to have a career website, second to that a careers section on your main website.
Do not confuse this with a jobs page, if you have live job vacancies, then that’s additional to the careers pages. Do not make the mistake of just having on your website a jobs tab, which when clicked links to a page which says “There are currently no vacancies” and think that’s enough, in our opinion that’s a sin! It’s a complete wasted opportunity of marketing your employer brand.
Even if your company hasn’t got any live job vacancies, you must give your potential future candidate a chance to find out all about working there. There should be information about typical job roles, what a typical day looks like, the benefits you get for working at such a great company, and what you get to see when you look out the window, so many companies forget about the importance of their location.
Candidates are looking to find out about the company culture; the type of things they’re looking for are:
- Is it somewhere that would suit their personality?
- Is it fun?
- Is it flexible?
- Is it a driven environment?
They also want to know they type of people who they could work with, are they people they’d go for a drink with after work or run a marathon with for charity?
Active and passive candidates are also looking for good training, career progression, opportunities to develop and grow, your careers site should be able to answer all their questions. On top of all of that it should also talk about the company ethics, its values, mission and vision, because candidates today want to buy into the brand, it’s not just about the salary.
