The most common design you will find in DIY shops is the gripping, scissor-shaped version. They are a multi-purpose tool and their metal limbs give extra leverage for difficult tasks.
What Are Parallel Pliers For?
The short answer is that they do the exact same thing but are better.
Parallel pliers can grip the entire length of the jaw using their compound box joint system. They are useful for many different jobs.
