Jobhop Jobhop's blog

It’s exciting to see more employers and recruiters taking an interest in social recruiting.

Like anything it can take a while for people to change the “old way” of doing things but the future looks promising, it feels like people genuinely want to change the way recruiting is being done. During this year Jobhop has been called upon more than ever before to deliver social recruiting workshops and presentations, it’s like everyone has had a lightbulb moment!

In case you still haven’t heard about social recruiting and not sure what it is, Wikipedia explains it like this: Social recruiting (social hiring or social media recruitment) is recruiting candidates by using social platforms as talent databases or for advertising. Social recruiting uses social media profiles, blogs, and other Internet sites to find information on candidates.

It's a way to recruit using social media platforms while being entirely social and engaging potential candidates. The art is to build relationships, build trust, give knowledge and create communities of talent.

If you want to understand more about social recruiting or would like to get a social recruiting strategy in place for your business then get in touch, and we can help you!

Hootsuite

We’ve mentioned Hootsuite quite a few times before, but it deserves shouting about.

We did temporarily fall out of love with it during an upgrade, but it was a blip, and the romance is back on! It helps us to engage with our community quickly, monitor conversations, connect with people based on what they’re chatting about as well as monitor and measure our brand. That’s a small part of what Hootsuite helps us with, it does so much more and helps to make social recruiting effortless for us.

Canva

Oh, what fun we have with Canva! Our motivational quotes, our #lovemyjob quotes and Jobhop job tips are all created with Canva. Creating visuals have never been easier.

Feedly

Being seen as a thought leader on anything to do with digital jobs, born digital, social recruiting, job hopping, social job seeking, etc. is important to us. Feedly gathers information across the internet for us to read and distribute to our tribe.

Buffer

When we collect the content we want to deliver we don’t want to share it across social media all at once, we want to schedule it, ideally at optimum times when we know our tribe are on the platforms. We do use Hootsuite for scheduling, but that’s mainly for our content ( Hootsuite also has scheduling ) We have found that Buffer works beautifully with Feedly. Feedly finds us the content and then with one click Feedly will store it into Buffer for us and then Buffer shares the posts to social media at times specified by us!

TalentSonar

Wow, what can we say about this brilliant tool? It’s good putting boolean strings together but so much easier when it’s done for us! Sourcing just gets easier and easier!

Prophet

Knowledge is power!

When we want to find out a little bit more about a candidate Prophet is very useful.

Prophet will tell us how active they are on social media, where to find them across the networks, what blogs they have, what websites they have and what emails to contact them on!

Crystal Knows

Once we decide who the ideal candidate is, we then want to know how they think, what personality type they are and how to approach them. Crystal Knows is spookily accurate.

Crystal Knows tells us what motivates the candidate, how to communicate with them, how to build a relationship with then and how to structure an email that they’ll open and read.

Crystal Knows can also give you a personality reading of a company, that way you can see if the candidate is a good match for it.

Sidekick

Once we’ve crafted and sent the perfect email to our candidate, we want to know that it gets opened and if our candidate clicks any of the links. Sidekick is our tool of choice for this; it even tells us how many times the candidate views the same email!

Slack

Every morning at Jobhop we all pop onto Slack on the “Good Morning” channel and make sure that we are all clear on what it is each of us wants and needs to achieve for the day.

We are all working towards the same mission, and we share ideas to make that happen more efficiently on Slack.

Smart Recruiters

Sometimes before joining a Jobhop community the first time a candidate finds us is via a job they’ve seen, our aim is to give them the best experience even if they don’t get the job they initially apply for. Smart Recruiters is a great applicant tracking system which helps us deliver a good service to our candidates.

All the tools  suggested are free, if you require them to do more, you can pay to upgrade.
