Dying to work in fashion? Well, you're probably already aware of some of the opportunities available in the business - editor, designer and so on.

But there are actually a few more unexpected fashion jobs out there that you might not know about yet.

Social Media Manager

Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, Pinterest, Tumblr, YouTube...did I forget any? Managing social media accounts and engaging audiences is actually a full-time job. Most fashion companies, from Chanel to Missguided all employ someone specifically to handle each of these platforms and engage with audiences, therefore creating an online voice for their company and sharing new products/articles/events with customers and readers. Facebook has over 1.5 billion users, and coupled with Instagram, Twitter, Snapchat, etc. these platforms are an endless and direct way to market to the consumers. There are so many aspects to social media management - from analysing what images and campaigns work and what doesn't - to interacting with a consumer to figure out their needs.

Online Content Creator

Content goes hand-in-hand with marketing and this position has taken the web by storm. Most fashion brands are now employing people to develop and expand their brand in order to produce new and original content and to drive traffic to the website. Content in today's marketing can include updating there brand's website/blog, computer-based editing skills, creating graphics and other online content.

Digital PR

A fashion PR is responsible organising and managing guest lists for promotional events, gifting (sending free products to key influencers and celebrities in the hope that they will use or write about it), dealing with requests from the press and celebrity PRs, and managing press releases. PRs also help to maintain the image of the brand; they may help with photoshoots, marketing initiatives or just maintaining the generally public perception of the brands image and mission on the market.

Influencer

Have you ever wished you could be paid to basically just live a cool life? Well little did you know, you can. Influencers are often paid to show snippets of their life in the form of a photo on Instagram or a YouTube video. First you're going to have to establish your niche - which in this case is fashion. Establishing your area of expertise is key and after that, it's mainly about persistence. Becoming your own brand isn't something that can happen overnight and you will need to gain a following and build yourself as a credible influencer before companies will approach you and work with you. Well known influencers can make up to £1.5k per Instagram post.

Blogger

You must have been hiding under a rock for the past few years if you haven't seen the huge growth of the power of fashion blogging. Just look at the big players such as Zoella and Tanya Burr and see the influence they use as a fully-fledged career. This isn't to say that every single fashion blogger will amass 10 million+ followers, it just goes to show how high the bar is set and still rising on blogger potential.
