Pokemon TCG's blog : The 5 Most Valuable Poké Cards In Existence on Pikazon
If you grew up in the 1990s, chances are you were obsessed with Pokémon. The franchise was seemingly everywhere, spawning an anime series, a feature-length film, and, of course, the iconic trading card game. These days, Pokémon is once again surging in popularity thanks to the release of Pokémon Go and the recent announcement of Pokémon Sword and Shield for the Nintendo Switch. And with that resurgence in popularity has come a renewed interest in the collectible cards that started it all. So, which Poké cards are worth the most money? Here are five of the most valuable cards in existence on Pikazon.nl - pokemon kaarten waarde.
1. Prerelease Raichu – $10,000+
A mistake by Wizards of the Coast (the company that produced Pokémon cards for North America) led to the creation of this ultra-rare card. Only 10 copies are thought to exist, making it one of the rarest Pokémon cards in the world. One copy was sold at auction for $10,500 in 2016, making it the most expensive English Pokémon card ever sold.
2. Pikachu Illustrator Promo Card – $10,000+
This card was awarded to just 39 people who managed to win a Pikachu Illustrator Contest held by CoroCoro Comic in 1998. The contest tasked young artists with drawing Pikachu in various poses, and the grand prize was this ultra-rare promo card. Due to its extreme rarity, this is one of the most expensive Poké cards; a mint-condition copy was sold for $20,000 in 2016.
3. Tropical Mega Battle Farfetch’d – $7000+
This card was given out to participants of the Tropical Mega Battle tournament held in Hawaii in 2001. Only 13 copies of this promo card are known to exist—making it one of the rarest cards around—and one copy was sold at auction for $7000 in 2017.
4. No. 1 Trainer – $6090+
This extremely rare Trainer card was awarded as a prize during Japanese tournaments held between October 1997 and September 1998. A total of just six copies are thought to exist three awarded during each time period and one copy sold for over $6000 at auction in 2014. 5. Misprint Holographic Shadowless Blastoise – Up to $5000 This misprinted version of one of the most popular cards from Base Set 2 is ultra-rare and highly coveted by collectors. The vast majority of copies have either a misaligned holographic image or no shadow at all; however, many mint-condition examples command high prices from eager buyers. One such copy sold for $5000 back in 2013."
Conclusion:
These five Poké cards are some of the rarest and most expensive cards in existence but they're far from being the only ones worth big money. If you've got some old Pokémon cards lying around, now might be a good time to dig them out and take a closer look! You never know; you might have a small fortune on your hands."
